In my spare time...

So lately in my spare time I have been hired to do some catering. Mostly desserts, and I have really been enjoying it! First I did a baby shower back in May. I was asked to do the main lunch, and then a dessert table for 30 people. That was why I had been practicing this beautiful ruffle cake:

This cake definitaly takes some practice, buts actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it! It is my most favorite cake that I am making right now! And the most requested!
So for the baby shower I made this dessert table. I made 3 different kinds of truffles, a lemon Ruffle cake and 36 cupcakes. I made half chocolate with raspberry mousse filling and the other half were Red Velvet with chocolate mousse!

the cupcakes
all of the cupcakes had some sort of cute fondant flower or something girly-ish on them. I absolutely LOVED the way they turned out!

this was my favorite cupcake

they all turned out so pretty. it was my first time using fondant for a catered event.

Then in the middle of June I was hired to make desserts for a western themed birthday party. I was asked to make enough to serve about 75 people. I made a large dessert table, but was still setting up the table as people came so I didn't get a shot of the whole table, or even all the desserts I made, but here's some of the pictures I did get.

The Ruffle cake
chocolate cake layered with Nutella and strawberries... it was so good!
It wasn't meant to feed every body, they just wanted a birthday cake out for display!

part of the table, not everything is visible and it does not do the table justice!

Nutella cake pops- I loved how the cute bows turned out. They really helped them look western!

Truffles

Raspberry mousse trifles, super cute with the trendy wooden spoon attached!

I had also made red velvet mini cupcakes and 2 different kinds of french macarons. I made raspberry marscapone and since it wasn't an LDS birthday party, coffee french macarons. These pictured are ones I made a while back, not the ones I used for the party but you get the idea. They are the raspberry marscapone ones! yum!

a much needed update...

I am gonna finally start catching up on the last 2 months we haven't blogged. It really stinks that we don't have reliable internet here where we live. So now that we have it, I'm gonna blog before its not working!
Looking back at all our pictures from May, we spent tons of time at the beach. As soon as the weather warmed up, we went to the Beach any chance we got. We usually had someone meet us there. Garretts brother and his girl friend joined us one evening there and we roasted hot dogs and marchmellows. It just happened that night that a small bad playing some cool Caribbean (or something similar) drums was there. It made the whole evening really fun!
Another time one of my oldest friends, Julia and her 2 boys came. Both my girls LOVE her boys and are already talking about who they are gonna marry! They had fun checking out all the washed up jellyfish!

Our family with Garrett's Bro Gavin and his lady friend Lauren!

 Shopping at  the beach!
We love the beach! Recently we have been seeing lots of dolphins! WE haven't gone as much now that schools out because during the southern CA beaches just get so crowded!
