It never ends...
Just when I thought we were finally leaving the snow, shoveling and freezing weather, we moved to the mountains in California! We had the first real storm since we moved here, thankfully we were down the mountains and decided to not go home in it. This is what we found when he came home. 7 inches of fresh snow!
This is the little cabin Garrett's parents bought that we are currently staying in! They totally gutted the inside, and will eventually get to the outside.
Here's the view from our drive way. The cabin is a few yards to the left! BEAUTIFUL!!!

a much needed update!
IT seems like forever since I last wrote! Life has been crazy since we left Buffalo. And sadly not much has changed. We left Buffalo and came back to California hoping to find more job opportunities here for Garrett. He was immediately given a job at a local private college, signed a contract to teach 2 classes, even taught on the first day of school only to be pulled aside and told that they made a mistake and he didn't actually have a job! The problem was one he told them about many times only to be told it wasn't going to be a problem. The problem: although he had in fact finished his Masters of Architecture in December, for what ever reason the school needs time to process it all and although his transcripts showed he finished and passed his classes, they didn't say "Graduated with a Masters" and wouldn't until February 1st. So after all the excitement of finally getting a job, it was lost after the very first day. It was disappointing to say the least. The frustrating thing was how many times Garrett had mentioned this to the school. He totally foresaw the problem! They couldn't hired him until his transcripts said "graduated with Masters"!!!
The FUNNY part is, just as this happened, Garrett got an email from a Professor back at UB who said he's heard about Garrett, knew he had graduated and wanted to offer him a job...
IN BUFFALO!!!!! WHAT!!!??? So Garrett and him emailed back and forth for days, and in the end, it didnt work out. The guy decided to wait to see how much of a work load he really had before hiring another architect! I'd be lying if I didnt say I was very relieved when it didnt work out, I had no desire to spend another $4,000 moving back accross the country, we had just moved away from!!! Garrett was dissapointed, had he been offered the job before we left Buffalo we would have taken the job in a heart beat.
During most of the time here thus far we have been staying at my parents, only about 1 mile from Garrett's parents, so we have been having a blast visiting and catching up with our family.
Garrett's parents recently bought a little vacation home in our local mountains, in a little town called Crestline. Its about a 40 minute drive from our parents. And Garrett's super nice parents are letting us live there until we get back on our feet (have a job and some money saved!) It is incredibly beautiful to look out the windows into the beautiful forest everyday! IT is just like a little resort town you'd picture in your mind, beautiful evergreen tree's, snow in the winter and even a little lake! We have only been able to live there for about a week, not consecutively though. It took about 1 and 1/2 months for Garrett and his Dad (who works full time) to make all the renovations and then we finally moved in, to then find out that the previous owners didn't have any septic tank... NOPE, these smart people decided to just run a pipe into an actual cesspool, and then years ago (no one had lived there for about 10 yrs when they sold it) it collapsed and they didn't tell anyone when they sold it, so... we moved out for a week to have Garrett and his Dad put a septic tank in! Yikes/GROSS! But we are finally living there! We LOVE it so far, EXCEPT that we don't have the internet or TV!!! And finding the internet up there has turned out to be a problem, many companies have internet there, but they are all at maximum capacity, so they can't offer it at this time!!! And even with our digital antenna, we get only 2 TV channels. I feel like we live on a dessert island! So we can only get on the internet when we come down to see our families, which is about 2 times a week since we don't have a washer or dryer there either. And buying groceries in the mountains is quite expensive. So we come down to buy groceries, do our banking on line and do our laundry!
The kids are doing well! Its been a hard adjustment living here. All their toys, most of their clothes, their whole room was practically packed away until last week so their lives have been turned upside down! They have been acting out a little bit, so I am anxious to get back to a routine. Sadly that routine wont include Ciella going to pre-k, I cant seem to find any programs with openings mid year!
But I'm sure as things get back to normal, life will also get back to normal!
Christmas was a blast, between both our parents Ciella and Cadence were SPOILED ROTTEN!! They got a Barbie Dream house, about a million barbies including enough barbie clothes to dress all the barbies in the world! a play kitchen complete with pots and pans, dishes, food and more! Books, blocks, puzzles, talking monkeys, movies, ...
We had a little family party to celebrate Garrett graduating with his Masters of Architecture! Garrett has worked so hard for this and I am so proud of him!!!!
We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary, we went to dinner and a movie! Yeah! Heres to 6 more years!
Garrett surprised me with an incredible early Valentines Day gift, he took me to see the LA Philharmonic at the Disney Opera House in down town LA!!! It was so awesome!!!! The building, designed by Frank Gehry, is in itself a great place to visit, but then to see the Philharmonic there too was so fun! Thanks Garrett!!
Garrett applies for jobs on a regular basis, but with all jobs requireing 3-5 years experiance we aren't top on anyone's list! Hopefully something works out soon! Hopefully we can get an internship somewhere near us!
